Genital Warts Is A Sexually Transmitted Disease
Genital warts are caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV) and are therefore transmitted sexually or through contaminated vaginal probes during a vaginal ultrasound.
They look like small flesh-colored, pink or red growths in or around the sex organs. The warts may look similar to the small parts of a cauliflower, or they may be very tiny and hard to see. They tend to appear in the groin, on and around the genitals, in the urethra, or in the rectum or anus. In women, they may also appear in the vaginal canal, or cervix. Women are often unaware of warts inside the vagina or on the cervix like this patient.
If small, one can treat with Imiquimod Cream every other day for 5 days. But if fungating or widely spread, they need to be excised and/or cauterized.
